Towage of the vessel carrying 12 RTG6+1 gantry cranes as part of the Cat Lai Port modernization project

On May 27, 2025, Tan Cang A1 and Tan Cang A5 tugboats successfully towed the vessel SHANG CHENG 777 (with an overall length of 199.98 meters), which was transporting 12 RTG6+1 gantry cranes under the Tan Cang Cat Lai Port modernization project, safely berthing at Cat Lai Terminal. The towage operation was carried out in close coordination with relevant subsidiaries under Saigon Newport Corporation and in strict compliance with the maritime safety plan approved by the Ho Chi Minh City Port Authority.
The Genma – Kalmar RTG6+1 gantry crane system features a high-end configuration, with a Lifting height of 6 containers high plus 1 over the truck lane (6+1 stacking height), and equipped with advanced technologies to ensure operational safety; as well as its components are designed for extended durability, with the hoisting and trolley travel mechanisms having a design lifespan of up to 50,000 operating hours. This ensures stable and long-term performance for container handling operations at high-capacity, key terminals such as Tan Cang Cat Lai Port.The deployment of 12 rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTG6+1) not only enhances the equipment capacity of Tan Cang Cat Lai Port but also demonstrates Saigon Newport Corporation’s strong commitment to technological innovation, operational modernization, and service quality improvement – ensuring readiness to meet the ever-increasing demands of the market and customers.
